Model / notations
Notations
ArchiMate, C4, BPMN, ER and UML as projections of one model.
Each notation is a profile over the same element graph. Profiles declare which symbols render which element kinds, the palette, and the relationship types they prefer. Each declares a fidelity level, raised only when test fixtures prove it.
- ArchiMate: all layers, with Exchange Format import and export.
- C4: context, container and deployment views, with Structurizr DSL import and export.
- BPMN: pools, lanes, tasks, events and gateways, with BPMN 2.0 XML import and export.
- ER: entities with attribute rows and keys (L2), exported as Postgres DDL, DBML and JSON Schema and imported from DDL.
- UML: class, component, deployment and use case diagrams (L1); sequence, state and activity come later.
- Capability map, value stream and org chart: a new view in one of these notations can be laid out from the model: capabilities nested by composition, stages in their precedes order with the capabilities they exercise, and units with their positions and roles as a tree.
- Security and data flow: trust boundaries, classified flows, STRIDE threats and NIST SP 800-53 controls (L1).
RACI, CRUD, skills and staffing are matrices in every model. UML sequence, state and activity diagrams are planned. On the roadmap
