Getting started
Workspaces, models, views and notations in ten minutes.
Arq keeps one model of your architecture and shows it through views in the notations you already use. A box on a view is an element of the model, so the same element can appear in an ArchiMate view and a C4 view, and a rename in one is a rename everywhere.
Try it first
The demo runs in your browser without an account. Describe a system, review what Arq drafts, and choose Keep this to start a trial with your work.
The pieces
| Organization | Who pays and who is a member. A new account gets its own organization with a 14-day trial. |
|---|---|
| Workspace | A shared space for models. Its catalog lists every element across the workspace. |
| Model | A body of architecture with a viewpoint (for example Systems or Operational) and a primary notation. Elements live in one home model and can be referenced from others. |
| View | A diagram of part of a model in one notation. Views hold layout only; meaning lives in the model. |
Your first model
- In your workspace, choose New model, name it, and pick a primary notation.
- On the model's Views tab, choose Draft views with Arq and describe the system, or New view to start from an empty canvas or a BPMN file.
- Add blocks from the palette, connect them, and nest them in containers. Every change is validated against the metamodel as you make it.
- Open History to see each revision and what changed in it.
Next: draft with Arq or model by hand.
