/02 About
The application runs in two regions at once behind global traffic routing, with replicated data, so either region can serve every user.
Both regions serve live traffic. Global routing sends users to the nearest healthy region; data is replicated between regions so that losing one region degrades capacity, not availability. When to use: strict availability targets, users spread across geographies, and regulatory or contractual resilience requirements. Trade-offs: survives a regional outage with little or no downtime and serves users closer to them; doubles infrastructure, and replicated writes force a choice between conflict handling and higher write latency. Test failover regularly.
